Walter Chen is the Deputy Chief of Special Projects on the Academics team at Attuned Education Partners. He has more than 15 years of experience in urban education as a teacher and school leader. Previously, Walter served as the Founding Principal of Rainier Valley Leadership Academy (RVLA), leading the design and launch of the first charter middle school in Seattle, Washington.
During his time as Founding Principal, RVLA scholars achieved the highest math and reading growth on state assessments in the Green Dot Public Schools network. Prior to that, Walter served as an elementary school principal and middle school assistant principal in Seattle Public Schools, where he oversaw double-digit gains in math proficiency in his schools.
Walter began his educational career as a middle school math teacher in Los Angeles, CA. Walter holds a B.A. in Economics from Pomona College and an M.Ed from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is also a graduate of the Danforth Educational Leadership Program at the University of Washington.
