Janice Harris

Chief Schools Officer

Janice Harris is a Chief Schools Officer at Attuned Education Partners.  Previously, Janice served for five years as an Instructional Superintendent for DC Public Schools, managing a diverse portfolio of elementary schools including dual language models.  In this role, Janice ensured that school leaders and teams were equipped with strategies and resources to close opportunity gaps and build leadership capacity.

During Janice’s tenure as Instructional Superintendent, her network of schools achieved double-digit increases in proficiency on state assessments in math, and narrowed gaps among subgroups in both math and ELA. Prior to her work in DCPS, Janice served as the principal of Haddam Elementary School in Connecticut for 10 years.  During her time as principal, Janice designed an instructional approach to mathematics that resulted in 100% of third grade students achieving mastery on the state assessment.

Janice began her education career as a Teach For America corps member at Mott Hall School in Harlem.  Janice holds a B.A. in Spanish from Dartmouth College as well as an M.S. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. She is also a graduate of the School Systems Leaders Fellowship.
