Demedia Edwards is a Deputy Chief of Academics at Attuned Education Partners. Before joining Attuned, she served as the Director of Literacy in Aldine Independent School District, a large urban district in Houston. As Director of Literacy, she oversaw the implementation of high-quality instructional materials for literacy in kindergarten through twelfth grades, resulting in double-digit gains on state assessments and foundational skills data that outpaced the nation.
Demedia also served as the principal of two urban schools in Houston: Marcella Intermediate and Marcella Elementary School. As principal of Marcella Intermediate, she led the campus to earn five distinctions from the state of Texas for achievement, growth, and closing performance gaps.
She holds a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Learning and Organizational Change from Baylor University, an Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction from Houston Baptist University, and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Henderson State University. Demedia has served in many roles in her more than 20 years in education, including teacher, dyslexia specialist, instructional coach, principal, and district leader.
