Demedia Edwards is a Deputy Chief of Academics at Attuned Education Partners. Prior to joining Attuned, she served as the Director of Literacy in Aldine Independent School District, a large urban district in Houston. As the Director of Literacy, she oversaw the implementation of high-quality instructional materials in grades k-12 resulting in double digit gains on state assessments and foundational skills data that outpaced the nation. Demedia also served as the principal of two urban schools in the Greenspoint area of Houston: Marcella Intermediate and Marcella Elementary School. As principal of Marcella Intermediate, she led the campus to earn five distinctions from the state of Texas for achievement, growth, and closing performance gaps. Prior to leading schools and system-wide change, Demedia was a dyslexia specialist, interventionist, and instructional coach. She holds a EdD in Learning and Organizational Change from Baylor University (2022), an M. Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction from Houston Baptist University (2005), and a BSE in Education from Henderson State University (2001).
